Looking For Alaska

The unmissable first novel from bestselling and award-winning author of THE FAULT IN OUR STARS.
Miles Halter is fascinated by famous last words – and tired of his safe, boring and rather lonely life at home. He leaves for boarding school filled with cautious optimism, to seek what the dying poet Francois Rabelais called the "Great Perhaps." Much awaits Miles at Culver Creek, including Alaska Young. Clever, funny, screwed-up, and dead sexy, Alaska will pull Miles into her labyrinth and catapult him into the Great Perhaps.
Looking for Alaska brilliantly chronicles the indelible impact one life can have on another.
Rezension
“Miles's narration is alive with sweet, self-deprecating humor, and his obvious struggle to tell the story truthfully adds to his believability.” School Library Journal
“What sings and soars in this gorgeously told tale is Green's mastery of language and the sweet, rough edges of Pudge's voice. Girls will cry and boys will find love, lust, loss and longing in Alaska's vanilla-and-cigarettes scent.” Kirkus
“This is an amazing first novel by a writer who is young enough to vividly remember his powerful years of high school and he expertly turns remembrance into story.” Children’s Literature
“The novel's chief appeal lies in Miles's well-articulated lust and his initial excitement about being on his own for the first time.” Publishers Weekly

“Debut novelist and NPR commentator Green perfectly captures the intensity of feeling and despair that defines adolescence in this hip, shocking, and emotionally charged work of fiction.”
Barnes & Noble

Alaska is like a celebrity for Pudge - beautiful to watch and unattainable.
A story about friendship, love and not placing people you love on a pedestal.

Absolute Leseempfehlung! Die Geschichte ist gut durchdacht, witzig, traurig, sie berührt und regt zum Nachdenken an ... John Green lässt sich auch im Original ganz toll lesen! Yes I'm really looking for words to describe this wonderful book. Miles isn't very popular at his school but at least he's good at knowing peoples last words. At the end of the year a tragedy happens and Miles is left with the question: "What did I do wrong?".
You just have to love Greens characters because they are all so unique and fascinating! This book deals with every aspect of life: love, lust, pranks, happiness, sadness and death. It even attempts to answer the question what life is all about and I think after reading this novel you have a slight idea about it. I advise every teenager above 14 years to read this book; you will not regret it and and certainly learn something for life!

John Green's Erstlingsroman ist mittlerweile schon 10 Jahre alt. Er wird auch noch in Zukunft viel gelesen werden, weil er so gut ist! Ein moderner Klassiker. One of the greates YA books today. Ten years after ist first publication it is still as gutwrenching and wonderfull as always. A Must-Read. One of the greates YA books today. Ten years after ist first publication it is still as gutwrenching and wonderfull as always. A Must-Read.

Traurig, aber humorvoll geschrieben. Eine Geschichte mit unglaublich starken und sehr facettenreichen Charakteren, die einen von der ersten Seite an in den Bann ziehen.
