An important work and the main source for this book is "The Time of our Singing" by Richard Powers. However, it is not the only novel regarding the issue. There are different other literary works which will be looked at.

Stefanie Hayes was born in 1983 in Bad Homburg, Germany. From 2002 to 2008 she attended Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. After finishing her studies she lived in the USA for one year. Since 2009 she resides in Tokyo, Japan.
