Two Can Keep a Secret

Two dead Homecoming-Queens. Five years later. Is the Killer back?

Weitere Formate

_____

A perfect town is hiding secrets.

Two teenagers are dead. Two murders unsolved. And a killer who claims to be coming back.
_____

Ellery's never been to Echo Ridge, but she's heard all about it.

It's where her aunt went missing at age sixteen, never to return.

Where a Homecoming Queen's murder five years ago made national news.

And where Ellery now has to live with a grandmother she barely knows, after her failed-actress mother lands in rehab.
_____

Malcolm grew up in the shadow of the Homecoming Queen's death.

His older brother was the prime suspect and left Echo Ridge in disgrace.

His mother's remarriage vaulted them to Echo Ridge's upper crust, but it could all change when mysterious threats around town hint that a killer plans to strike again.

And the return of Malcolm's brother doesn't help matters. But his return is just a coincidence... isn't it?

Ellery and Malcolm both know it's hard to let go when you don't have closure.

Then another girl disappears.

As they race to unravel what happened, they realise every secret has layers in Echo Ridge. The truth might be closer to home than either of them want to believe.

And somebody would kill to keep it hidden.

Up until now Ezra and Ellery have never been to their mother's home town, but heard all about it and the gruelling stories that surround it. Malcom has lived in Echo Ridge, for better or for worse, all his life, suffering through the attention that comes with being the younger brother of a rumored murderer. When ghosts of times past resurface and threaten the town once again, they find themselves right in the middle of it all. Even though this is a YA thriller, I am certain that many adults will enjoy it, too. McManus is great at creating suspense and setting her readers on the wrong track time and time again only to surprise them at every twist and turn. I enjoyed reading this story from a dual point of view and could relate to Ellery and Malcom and their ways of thinking quite easily. There's only one plot twist I saw coming some time beforehand, but the book's last line sent chills down my spine, nonetheless. Given the at times rather graphic (violent) scenes, I recommend "Two Can Keep a Secret" to teens aged 14 and up. If you enjoy a good thrill, you will definitely love this unputdownable novel.

Twenty years ago a girl went missing. Five years ago someone killed the Homecoming Queen of Echo Ridge High. And this year someone is about to kill the new queen. When Ellery and her brother move to their grandmother in Echo Ridge, they know that this little town has some dark secrets. Twenty years ago their mother's twin sister disappeared. And then five years ago a girl got murdered in "Murderland", a Halloween Park in Echo Ridge. As Ellery is nominated as Homecoming Queen someone starts to threaten her and a deadly race starts. I don't know what to say about this story, because I really like all the characters and it all reminds me of Riverdale or Pretty Little Liars. On the other hand I knew nearly exactly what was going on (which I shouldn't, considering it a misery novel). Anyway it was a nice story and a quick read. I really enjoyed it.
