If a person was regarded as a murderer by your whole town, would you try to prove their innocence? It's been five years since the murder of 17-year-old Andie Bell and the subsequent suicide of her alleged killer. Pippa never believed Sal was guilty of said crime and hasn't been able to forget about it, either. Now, a high school senior herself, Pippa decides to reopen the case and find the real perpetrator, not expecting to become a target in doing so... Holly Jackson's debut is not for the faint-hearted. It's a highly suspenseful read and had me on the endge of my seat almost continuously. By that I don't mean to imply it was gory, not at all, it's rather told in way that is extremely thrilling and encourages you to pick up on clues and try to solve the mystery all the while Pippa's situation gets more and more precarious. On top of that it's also a very well constructed story, ties up all lose ends in a very satisfying and coherent way and stars a very smart and caring young woman. I admire Pippa's determination and sense of justice and love the way she interacts with the people around her. I highly recommend this book to every fan of YA thrillers in general and readers who enjoyed "One of Us is Lying" in particular. I am already looking forward to the sequel and am sure, after reading this book, you will, too.
