Herman Hesse was a German-Swiss poet, painter and novelist. In 1946 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. He is most noted for Steppenwolf, Siddhartha and The Glass Bead Game. Siddhartha was written in 1922 and showed his love of the Indian culture and Buddhist philosophy. Siddhartha returned to popularity in the 1960's due in part to the counterculture mood in the hippie movement and the novel's themes of a quest for enlightenment.

Very poorly published

This book is a good translation of the original, which I have read many, many times. However, this book is very poorly published. There are several mistakes per page, among them many simple ones, such as duplicate words "the the" etc. Also, the cover does not make much sense.... This book is a good translation of the original, which I have read many, many times. However, this book is very poorly published. There are several mistakes per page, among them many simple ones, such as duplicate words "the the" etc. Also, the cover does not make much sense. The book is in total 120 page and the covers account for at least half of the books width. All in all, I would not recommend this book, the publisher shall fix all the easy typing mistakes first, please!
