All the Bright Places

(7)
The beloved New York Times bestseller that Entertainment Weekly described as "sparkling" and says "get[s] under your skin." You won't soon forget this heart-wrenching, unflinching story of love shared, life lived, and two teens who find each other while standing on the edge.

Theodore Finch is fascinated by death. Every day he thinks of ways he might kill himself, but every day he also searches for-and manages to find-something to keep him here, and alive, and awake.

Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her small Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister's recent death.

When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school-six stories above the ground- it's unclear who saves whom. Soon it's only with Violet that Finch can be himself. And it's only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet's world grows, Finch's begins to shrink. . . .

Extremly beautiful yet sad in equal measure. Not just a simple lovestory, but a story about loss, grief, lust for life, despair and the joy of the extraordinary ordinary. Finch and Violet meet each other for the first time at the rooftop of their school. They both wanna jump but Finch decides to save Violets life. They get a school project together where they have to wander several places in Indiana. While they work on the school project, they get to know and to love each other. But Finch is still fightin his inner deamons with suicide. Is Violet able to save him this time? The story was good but to my opinion a little bit too long. I think a hundred pages less wouldn't be so bad. I hoped that the stroy of Finch and Violet get a happy end but when it didn't I was very disappointed. But if you like a love story like "The fault in our stars" with no happy end this book could be for you. I'm excited how they gonna make the movie.

absolutely thrilling

This book is different and special. It's written very emotionally and makes the reader share the thrill with the two protagonists, Violet and Finch. All in all, if you want a gripping and different books with ups and downs, lots of unexpected twists and turns - go and buy... This book is different and special. After having already successfully published a bunch of books for adults, "All the Bright Places" is the first YA novel by Jennifer Niven. Violet and Finch are, well, damaged. After the death of her sister, Violet is a scared, introverted mess and finds herself on top of a bell tower, contemplating to jump off. Up there she meets Finch, pretty much pondering doing the same thing. Together they climb back down again and an unexpected friendship begins. Whilst wandering Idiana, their relationship changes and so does Violet. She finally starts to get better and really live again, Finn on the other hand not so much... I really love this book. From page one I was hooked and read the whole thing within 24 hours. The storyline is desperate, sweet and heartbreaking all at the same time and you can't not fall in love with Violet and Finch. While also having light and fluffy parts the novel gets pretty dark, dealing with abuse, bullying, illness and death. This bittersweet love story will make you laugh, cringe and cry - in short, it'll put you on an emotional rollercoaster.
