Joe McCarthy is homeless in paradise. He's a loser, a down-and-out alcoholic who's made the park benches and alleyways of Waikiki his unofficial home. The only thing he's ever managed to do is screw up his own life.
But Joe isn't resigned to being a loser. He's ready for change. Thirsty for it. And he's finally found a friend who's willing to help him achieve it--his sponsor, Kent.
Too bad Kent just got killed.
Now Joe's on his own again, terribly tempted by his old weaknesses, desperate for a drink. And worse yet, a group of outlandish characters keep bumping into him, asking him questions, making threats. They think he knows something, and they want to make sure he never talks.
If Joe's going to stay alive, he needs to find out who killed Kent. And to do that, he'll need to do something he hasn't managed in decades.
