„I'm rooting for space boy“

Cassandra Trillhose, Thalia-Buchhandlung Berlin

Hutchinson addresses relevant issues for young adults completely out of context. Without any explanation for it the main character is repeatedly abducted by aliens. The absurdity and complexity of this book took me by surprise.
If you are a reader who is looking for a light read this book will not be the one for you. This is not a funny story.
But in my opinion, that makes it even more relevant.
There should be a trigger warning for suicide, violent abuse and rape though.

A surprise all the wax through
von Charlie am 28.05.2018

This book took me by complete surprise. I started reading an was laughing at the dry humour of the main character in every other sentence. And then it took a turn and my smile turned into tears. A heart wrenching story about loss and the urge of a teenager... This book took me by complete surprise. I started reading an was laughing at the dry humour of the main character in every other sentence. And then it took a turn and my smile turned into tears. A heart wrenching story about loss and the urge of a teenager to understand the cruelty of the world. Fantastically written.
