Carry On

The Rise and Fall of Simon Snow

A #1 New York Times-Bestseller
Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen.
That's what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he's probably right.
Half the time, Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he sets something on fire. His mentor's avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there's a magic-eating monster running around wearing Simon's face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here -- it's their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon's infuriating nemesis didn't even bother to show up.
Carry On is a ghost story, a love story and a mystery. It has just as much kissing and talking as you'd expect from a Rainbow Rowell story - but far, far more monsters.

Exceptional

The most unusual magical adventure I ever read. A clever, funny and dangerous story with just the right amount of love and unexpected desire…also a major treat for Drarry-Fans:) Simon Snow has absolutely no idea what he is doing. Rainbow Rowell on the other hand is a genius storyteller, whose books have everything a good novel needs and more than most of them have: diversity.

I still can't get over the fact that it took me so long to read this. But it kinda does remind you of it. I mean you can clearly read whom the author thought of while writing her characters. Don’t get me wrong: even if you have never read any part of Harry Potter you can still read this book here and enjoy, even LOVE it. Why? The story is just so engaging and funny, and the characters are so relatable and awkward that you just have to like them.

I liked the pages about Simon and Baz in 'Fangirl' and when I heard about a book about them I knew I had to read it! I do see the similarities to Harry Potter, but in my opinion it's very vague. The chapters aren't limited to one person's view only, which can get confusing, but I loved reading more about Penny, Lucy, Simon and... The chapters aren't limited to one person's view only, which can get confusing, but I loved reading more about Penny, Lucy, Simon and especially Baz! The story is wonderful, little plot twists here and there, and the romance made me wiggle with glee! Can only recommend it to anyone.
