Brida, a young Irish girl, has long been interested in various aspects of magic but is searching for something more. Her search leads her to people of great wisdom. She meets a wise man who dwells in a forest, who teaches her to trust in the goodness of the world, and a woman who teaches her how to dance to the music of the world. As Brida seeks her destiny, she struggles to find a balance between her relationships and her desire to become a witch.

This enthralling novel incorporates themes that fans of Paulo Coelho will recognize and treasure. It is a tale of love, passion, mystery, and spirituality from the master storyteller.

There are two ways to teach magic: the tradition of the sun by gaining experience, and the tradition of the moon by accumulating knowledge. In the woods, Brida meets Magus, who shares his experience of the tradition of the sun. Back in Dublin, she meets Wicca, a teacher of the tradition of the moon. While training to becoming a witch, Brida finds out about soulmates. The principle is that in the beginning of time there was a man and a woman, who were soulmates. When they died, each of their souls split in two and were reborn, making four matching souls. And so it went on and on. Some magical people can see a point of light above the left shoulder of their soulmate; others can tell their soulmate by looking in their eyes. This is a wonderful tale of finding out who you are and which way you want to go in life. I recommend this novel to everyone who is interested in soulmates or is just looking for a great spring read.
