"Extraordinary, resonant and relevant, beautiful and angry." Sunday Telegraph "...a beautifully balanced piece of storytelling...Unsettling, thought-provoking, life affirming, triumphant and tragic, this is a novel of breathtaking scope, masterfully told. It is an important piece of work, but also a wonderful page-turner." Guardian "A moving work which will make many eyes brim." Independent on Sunday "This is a weighty novel worthy of universal acclaim. A sense of dread prevades this beautifully written novel. As The Book Thief draws to a close, Death says: "There's a multitude of stories that i allow to distract me as I work." The story of the Book Thief, who tried to change the world in her own small way, proves one formidable and inspiring distraction." The Daily Express

Loved it, even though I didn't like at the beginning those highlights from the death... But I got used to it and then I started loving it. Story is well written and honest, you really feel with the book thief. I don't know how to describe, but this book went... Oh boy, the tears poured with this one! What a great story! I really loved this title. This book was a light, flowing read, and yet it was the kind of book that touched me inside and kept me thinking of the story throughout the day! I found myself remembering... Oh boy, the tears poured with this one! What a great story! I really loved this title. This book was a light, flowing read, and yet it was the kind of book that touched me inside and kept me thinking of the story throughout the day! I found myself remembering scenes from the book and trying to remember which movie the scene I had playing in my head came from, to recall that it actually was part of "The Book Thief". I appreciated that the book painted a picture of probably a very normal household in the second world war. The empathy, sympathy and the human-kindness that was alive and well and bursting to the surface, quietly of its' own accord, made me feel for each and every character in the book. All in all a great read. I would definitely recommend it and not just to young adults.
