I liked that it didn't have this typical hero vs. villain topic that is present in so many other books. I really enjoyed reading about the complexity of some characters, especially the one of Eli Ever’s character. In fact Victoria Schwab manages to give all of her characters so much life that, when reading her books, I always can imagine them as real people. And this ability of hers surprised me in this book once again. I liked the concept of superpowers mixed with the scientific aspect from the very beginning. It was amazing to read about how this theoretical approach to extraordinary abilities became reality. This book very much reminded me of the movie Chronicle, starring Dane DeHaan as the main character. The best-friend-to-enemy relationship that Eli and Victor shared in this book is very similar to the one in this movie. I can definitely recommend this book to anyone how enjoys reading about extraordinary powers and the blurring line between being a hero and becoming a villain. weniger

I love Victor Vale beyond measure, he and Sydney have easily become some of my all time favorite characters. The plot is fast paced and so interesting you just want to keep on reading. I have also never read about characters with these kind of powers, because the powers in this book are not your average superhuman strength or flight or the ability to throw lightning. The main characters all have very intruiging powers that I loved to read about and find out how they got them. The ending was also so incredibly good, I'm still hoping we get a sequel (tbh I'd read anything with these characters in it). weniger

Nice to read. I like how the characters are depicted. Though I think it gets predictable towards the end..
