Meine letzte Rezension Can't Fix These Feelings 1 von Kou Hirokawa
Irgendwie war das viel besser als ich gedacht hätte. Eine süße Geschichte mit grumpy x sunshine trope, von der man vielleicht als erstes nicht viel erwartet und dann doch positiv überrascht wird. Kumazawa und Koichi haben mich einfach für sich gewinnen können.

Can't Fix These Feelings 1

Irgendwie war das viel besser als ich gedacht hätte. Eine süße Geschichte mit grumpy x sunshine trope, von der man vielleicht als erstes nicht viel erwartet und dann doch positiv überrascht wird. Kumazawa und Koichi haben mich einfach für sich gewinnen können.

    Chlorine

    This book is so incredibly haunting. I will never be able to see mermaids the same way again. And who would have thought that I would be obsessed with mermaids again as an adult. In Chlorine we follow a young girl that wants nothing in life more than to become a mermaid and this story is her metamorphosis into becoming one. It is her descent into madness. The story has a beautiful build up, the writing is good and you could practically smell the chlorine from the swimming pool while reading. It is a story where you don't quite know what is going on at times because the narrator is unreliable and fooling not only herself but also the reader. Chlorine is a novel that is perfect for everyone that loves a bit of unreliability in their narrator and quite a bit of insanity.

    Beauvoir schreibt in diesem kurzen Roman eine Art Liebesbrief an ihre Freundin. Postum veröffentlicht beleuchtet es die verschiedenen Ebenen derer Freundschaft, wie innig diese war. Und unter welchem äußerlichen Druck die beiden Frauen gelitten haben. Früher Feminismus verpackt in einer bewegenden und einzigartigen autobiografischen Geschichte.

    Check & Mate

    I feel happier with every Ali Hazelwood book I read. And after this one in particular. Ever since it came out I've read it multiple times... Hazelwood's previous books have all been centered around women in STEM and in this one her two protagonists are two rivaling chess players falling for each other? I am all in. I love Chess and I love Mallory and I love Nolan and I love the side characters and I love the plot... There really is little to nothing I don't love about this book. Mallory, who never wanted to play chess again after the game tore her family apart, reluctantly agrees to play one game for a charaity event against the notorious "Kingkiller", Nolan, who is the reigning world champion of chess and starting to get bored with the game. Until Mallory ends up checkmating Nolan. Now he want to play her again. It's a fantastic set-up with a lovely cast of characters and a romance that will make you swoon.

    Ink Blood Sister Scribe

    I won't lie to you the first 100 pages had me a little bored but when it picked up, IT PICKED UP! I still think about the characters day and night and it's been about a month since I have finished reading it. I just want to exist in their universe and experience the magic of the books with them. Ink Blood Sister Scribe is (sadly) a stand-alone fantasy novel about people that have magic running through their veins. They are able to write books with ink made of their blood that can be used to cast spells. A magic concept that felt incredibly unique and was so interesting to read about. Törzs crafted a small group of relatable (and such loveable) characters, with solid background stories. And once their different paths started to cross, I could not get myself to put the book down. The twist was (although slightly predictable) so beautifully done. In addition to that I personally just love books that are written about books.

    Crash Test

    This was everything to me! Definitely one of my reading highlights this year. A lot of angst, a lot of sadness, a lot of yearning. Crash Test is one of those books that I just could not put down. The way the story is put together and how it is split into three sectors (peep the F1 reference) is just such a good idea and worked really well with the plot.

    The Hurricane Wars

    I don’t even know where to begin with this one. The angst and tension between the two was so well done. Such a well written fantasy with a beautiful romance as the focal point of the story. This is true enemies to lovers. The push and pull between the main characters and the way each of them was yearning for attention from the other one. It was delicious! Their reasons for not being able to fully give in felt so understandable. Definitely prepare for a slow-burn if you want to read this one, because it took a bit to get there… But now I am just extremely looking forward to see where this goes next. If you are a Reylo shipper, this is for YOU!

    Mein Mann

    Mein Mann von Maud Ventura ist ein ausgezeichneter Roman über eine Frau, die ihren Mann noch genauso sehr liebt, wie am ersten Tag. Wenn nicht sogar noch ein bisschen mehr. Doch wie sehr liebt er sie zurück? Ventura lässt uns in die fast schon perversen, aber auch faszinierenden Abgründe der Protagonistin blicken, in einem sehr schnellen und mitreißenden Schreibstil. Die Obsession der Narratorin mit ihrem Mann wirkt so lachhaft und verrückt zu Beginn, dass sie befremdlich erscheint. Doch je länger man ihren unterhaltsamen Monologen folgt, desto vertrauter wird sie und man bekommt das Gefühl man könnte sich auf eine perfide Art mit ihr identifizieren. Das Buch ist eine filterlose Darstellung von Gedanken und Bedürfnissen, die wir uns vielleicht einfach nicht trauen auszusprechen. Ich habe diesen Roman wortwörtlich verschlungen und wollte ihn gar nicht beiseite legen.

    Her Majesty's Royal Coven

    This book is totally one of my favorite books I have read so far. Queer urban fantasy with witches that will leave you wanting to join them in their coven. I have grown so incredibly fond of the charcaters that I cannot wait to start the second book and see how their story evolves.

    This is YA fantasy but make it the absolute blue print for what a good YA fantasy should be. The Cruel Prince revolves around a young heroine called Jude, who is a headstrong, bold and unique protagonist. She fights for what she wants and does not shy away from a challenge. And as a human girl living in the world of faeries that is a dangerous gamble with life and death. This is the first book in a trilogy by Holly Black that touches not only on the topic of fighting for yourself but also on the politics of this ornate fantasy world, as well as the complex relationships between Jude, her family and the faerie folk. Black constructed this incredible and dark fantasy that just absorbed me into faerie folklore and kept me captivated by all the characters, the plot and intricacies of the world-building. It had me intoxicated from the very first page.
