  The Hunger Games 1

  No matter how often I re-read this book, I always find new ways to interpret it. Now more important than ever, The Hunger Games shows us ways in which our current reality is flawed - probably better so than any other book. It's a book about facing the unknown and - most importantly perhaps - about survival. The Hunger Games stays with you for a long time, even after you put it down. It shows you, how even the smallest of impacts matters and that bravery in the face of hopelessness goes a long way. This book is a brilliant start to a series that will never truly leave you. Definitely one of, if not the, most important dystopian books!

  Project Hail Mary

  Project Hail Mary might easily be my favourite sci-fi book to date. The way that Andy Weir combined the, quite difficult, real science with a big part of fictional one was very well executed. And the amount of thought and work that went into creating an extraterrestrial life-form? Just amazing. I absolutely love the depiction of our world working united to solve a problem - and the ethical dilemmas created along the way. Andy Weir basically gave one woman the power to save the world. The relationship between Rocky and Grace however, might be my favourite part of the whole book. It wasn't easy, but definitely realistic (in the way that I imagine a relationship between a human and a friendly extraterrestial to look exactly like that). I love the fact, that in the end they really were the best of friends. The open ending was definitely a nice factor. Project Hail Mary is a book I would always recommend to a science fiction fan!

  The Hunger Games 3. Mockingjay

  The third book of The Hunger Games survives without any "real" games. And that's what makes it special to me. After having survived not one, but two games, Katniss, Peeta and the other victors that are now a part of the rebellion, face the inevitable war between the Capitol and the Districts. Focusing more on the toll of war than a line of action, Mockingjay delivers heartfelt moments as well as devastating ones. Suzanne Collins once again manages to convey the havoc and trauma that Katniss faces during the war in a more than adequate manner. The ending, albeit devastating, is a good conclusion to the trilogy (although it did feel like someone hit me over the head, but ok).

  The Hunger Games 2. Catching Fire

  Catching Fire follows Katniss and Peeta, as they navigate the aftermath of the 74th Hunger Games. Their rebellion has not gone unnoticed and all over Panem people start to defy the capitol. But as the Quarter Quell draws ever closer, the mood shifts in the Victor's village in District 12. Some regard it as the best book in the series, and while I might not agree with that, I do think that Catching Fire has the most interesting games out of the original trilogy. The multiple twists throughout the book and the way Suzanne Collins implements new characters certainly leave an impression. The rebellion is, well, Catching Fire in this book and as the general mood shifts from that of survival to that of a rebellion, we get to connect even more with our favourite characters. Suzanne Collins manages to convey emotion as well as trauma in a way that feels quite realistic - and lets you sympathise with the characters on a very deep level. Catching Fire is a worthy sequel to the first book, a little more tense, but worth your time!
