It’s a very well written book, with very deep themes. I heard a lot about Dazai Osamu before, which set my expectations very high but the book did not disappoint. This book definitely makes you think about your life in general, but especially what you value and if there is any sense about your existence to be exact. It’s more of an autobiography if you know some details about the author’s real life tho. He wasn’t a good man but his life wasn’t easy either. He describes how he suffered a lot throughout his life and how depressing it really was. You will learn about him from the time of his childhood to his adulthood in Japan, too. You might possibly relate to some of the things he is telling us, since you will probably build up a connection with him. It’s definitely worth a try but be prepared for a lot of heavy emotions.
