The most influential and accessible book about art!
"We only see what we look at. To look is an act of choice." "Ways of seeing" is considered one of the most influential and accessible works of writing about art in the English language, and rightfully so. I was really struck by these essays. They’re incisive, well-structured and truly made me think about art in a new way. They made me think about art as a sign, a symbol, an argument, a brag, a promise, a prison. Despite being written in the 1970s, this book continues to be a thoroughly important and relevant read. I also recommend watching the Series, currently found on YouTube, if you haven't already!
