Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Geowissenschaften / Geographie - Regionalgeographie, Note: 2,0, Universität Potsdam (Institut für Geographie), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Gegenstand der dargestellten Untersuchung ist das städtebauliche Leitbild "Stadt der kurzen Wege" und seine Bedeutung für die Stadt Potsdam. Die vorrangigen Ziele dieses Leitbildes sind, die Stadt als Lebensraum des Menschen nachhaltig, ökonomisch und attraktiv zu gestalten. Der Lösungsansatz wird in der Funktionsmischung von Wohnen, Arbeiten, Versorgen und Freizeit gesehen, welche u.a. den motorisierten Individualverkehr (MIV) samt seinen Folgen eindämmen soll. Am Beispiel der Stadt Potsdam ist zu beobachten, dass es sichtbare Defizite zwischen der Theorie und der Umsetzung des Leitbildes gibt. Es enthält weder klar definierte Erfüllungskriterien, noch existiert eine übergreifende Strategie zu seiner Umsetzung. Trotzdem kommt ihm eine wichtige Funktion zu. Es soll verschiedenen, städtebaulich wirksamen Gruppen, wie sie lokale Parteien und die Stadtverwaltung darstellen, zur gemeinsamen Orientierung dienen und somit städtebaulich richtungsweisend wirksam werden.

Abstract
This analysis focuses on the urban planning concept of the "city of short distances" and its meaning for the city of Potsdam. The primary objectives of this concept are to make the city sustainable, economic and attractive. The approach is seen in the combination of the functions habitation, working, supplying, and leisure which, amongst others, shall lead to a decrease of the motorized individual transportation and its consequences. The example of the city of Potsdam shows that there are obvious deficits between the theoretical model and its implementation. This concept does neither contain clearly defined criteria of achievement nor is there a comprehensive strategy for its realization. Nevertheless, this overall concept plays an important role. It is supposed to provide a common basis of orientation for different urban planning groups such as political parties and municipal authorities and thus point the way to the future.
