Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich BWL - Unternehmensführung, Management, Organisation, Note: 1,2, Universität Paderborn (Management), Veranstaltung: -, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit der Verlagerung von ausländischen Produktionsstätten deutscher Unternehmen zurück an ihren Heimatstandort. Nach einer kurzen Einordnung dieser Entwicklung in den thematischen und historischen Kontext werden zunächst mögliche Motive für eine Verlagerung ins Ausland betrachtet und einander gegenübergestellt. Im Anschluss werden verschiedene Gründe für die darauffolgende zweite Standortentscheidung, die Verlagerung zurück nach Deutschland, ausführlich analysiert und sowohl mit empirischen Forschungsergebnissen als auch mit Erfahrungsberichten betroffener Unternehmen untermauert. Darauf aufbauend werden Maßnahmen empfohlen, um eine Wiederholung dieser Fehler zu vermeiden und derart wichtige strategische Entscheidungen durch ausführliche Beratung und Informationsbeschaffung gründlicher vorzubereiten und gewissenhafter zu treffen. Den Abschluss bildet eine Diskussion von Alternativen zur Verlagerung, die eine neue Wahrnehmung und Wertschätzung der Potentiale des deutschen Heimatstandortes aufzeigt. Immanent erfolgt eine aktuelle Bewertung der Marke "Made in Germany".
This paper studies the shift by German companies to relocate external production facilities back to Germany. After an explanation of the background of this recent development and a synopsis of academic research already completed, the possible motives for transferring production to another country are examined and contrasted. Following this, an extensive analysis of reasons for the subsequent second "location decision", being the decision to return to Germany, supported by results of empirical research as well as field reports of affected companies is conducted. Consequently, several recommendations are proposed regarding policies and measures to be employed in order to avoid costly mistakes, to thoroughly prepare for such an important strategic decision and to reach it conscientiously. Building on that, alternatives to the relocation of production facilities are discussed, showing a new perception and appreciation of the potential of Germany as a business location. Immanently, a critical evaluation of the brand "made in Germany" in the global competitive marketplace is carried out.
