Behind every royal decree lies a human voice. History breathes in these pages. Calendar of State Papers, Domestic: Edward VI, Mary, Elizabeth, and James I, Volume I (1547-1580) opens the inner chambers of Tudor rule, arranging the surviving records of England 1547 to 1580 into a clear, chronological tapestry. Here are official letters, warrants and memoranda carefully condensed from primary source historical documents: Tudor court politics records, Elizabethan government correspondence and English Reformation state records that trace how power was argued over, written down and enforced. Prepared by archivist Robert Lemon from the great Tudor state papers collection, this authoritative British archival history reference serves both as a research tool for historians and a vivid sourcebook for Tudor scholars, students and interested general readers. The concise summaries map the day-to-day machinery of the Crown: the anxieties of minority rule under Edward VI, the confessional reversals of Mary I, and the early consolidation of Elizabeth I, offering direct access to Elizabeth I primary sources without the barrier of difficult handwriting or scattered archives. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike. More than a reprint, it stands as a cultural treasure for anyone drawn to Tudor and early Stuart politics, government and religion, and an essential foundation for any serious library devoted to the calendar of state papers domestic.
