We were able to convince our parents that we absolutely need such a modern device.
My childhood friend Manfred Klemm had a small Philipps recorder with a black bag to hang on.
Our device was one size bigger and was silver colored.
Of course, the equipment also included a microphone.
We transmitted most of the recordings on the radio.
In addition to the usual songs, however, we wanted to hear something fancy.
Every rock group now also offered cassettes in addition to the records.
From now on we listened to Uriah Heep, Led Zeppelin and a lot of progressive music.
The hits of the week etc. were out.
As some of us boys began to love moped riding more and more, it happened that we ran out of fuel.
In the harvest season, after the work was done, there was a combine harvester
The combine was a small, petrol-engined John Deere model.
The fuel tank was on the side that we often passed.
The temptation was too great not to resist.
Siegbert had a gasoline tube and an empty canister with him.
The lid of the tank was very easy to open.
The tube was inserted and tightened with the mouth until the precious fuel flowed into the canister.
My conscience plagued me. Until today nobody has found out about it but us.
Overnight in the forge
We had an argument with our parents.
It was about agriculture.
Angry with our parents, my brother Bernhard and I decided not to come home.
Before it got dark we sneaked into our grandpa's old forge.
Our grandparents' property was in a double courtyard.
It's ringing, we heard our grandma say emphatically.
But now take a quick sip of malt coffee, don't forget the hymn book and put on a jacket. On the way to the church people came out of every house, locked their gates and put the key in the flower pot or under a stone and hurried to get into the church.
From the age of 12 we boys were allowed to take a seat on the gallery behind the organ.

Evangelicals, the Protestants or also called Lutherans, did not marry a Catholic and vice versa.
It happened that at a dance event a man asked his dance partner which denomination she belonged to. If it was the wrong denomination, they often left the floor immediately. Nobody wanted to be called a renegade.

Only daring fellows dared to court someone of a different faith.
For some girls in love, the old tradition was also obsolete.
The strict rules have always been too strict for Barbara's sisters. They dreamed of driving through the streets of a town in a cab with an educated man by their side.
