Gratton, T: Chaos & Flame

This book has an amazing world that I wish would have been explored more. I really enjoyed the characters in this and how they had really complicated relationships with each other. However, the story development felt a little rushed to me and I think the story went from feeling really big-scale, when it starts in the middle of a war, to feeling really small-scale, when the war just ends with a few words and most of the story is centered around the fmc's learning of the culture of the court. While I did enjoy the characters traveling to different places and visiting the different royal houses, most of the stops felt kind of uneventful and because the reasons behind some of the actions are kept secret, I struggled to grasp the importance behind them, so it felt more like a low-stakes story. If you're looking for a more character-driven fantasy though, definitely give this one a try! It was a really enjoyable read regarding the slow-burn enemies to lovers aspect too.
