Portrait

Chin Wei Lai is a Full Professor at the Nanotechnology & Catalysis Research Centre, University of Malaya, Malaysia. Dr. Lai's research focuses on chemically modified metal oxide photocatalysts, functionalized nanomaterials and nanocomposites, and graphene-based carbon materials, with particular applications in environmental pollution management and solar energy technologies. He has also served as Section Editor for the Encyclopaedia of Energy Storage: Capacitors/Supercapacitors (Elsevier, 2022).

Through his contributions to the fields of nanomaterials and catalysis, Dr. Lai has received several prestigious awards, including the IMechE Best Young Member Award (2022), the JCI Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians (TOYM) Award for Academic Leadership and Accomplishment (2021), and the National Young Scientist Award (2019) from Malaysia's Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC), among others.

Paul Thomas is currently postdoctoral fellow at the University of Bergen in the department of Physics and Technology and NORCE Center, in Norway. HIs research interests include energy and environment, nanocoating, biofouling, energy storage applications, water treatment, dye sensitized solar cell, photocatalysts and sonocatalyst for water treatment, in- situ characterization for catalysis, nano-scale fabrication technology, biomaterials, waste to energy recovery, anticorrosion, and sensors, among others. He has published numerous articles and book chapters in prestigious journals and gained wide research attention from scientific communities.
