Every three hours in South Africa, a woman is killed.
Through the voice of Ayanda, a young woman who survives trafficking, captivity, and betrayal, this novel exposes the silence that shelters abusers, the failures of justice, and the hollowness of systems that claim to protect but seldom do.
Written by a man for women, Rise Ayanda confronts the complicity of men, unmasks the quiet ways society normalises harm, and insists that protection, not control, is the true measure of strength.
It is a story of survival, defiance, and renewal. But more than that, it is a call.
A call to men, to families, to leaders, to stop looking away. To act. To rise. To refuse silence.
Raw, unflinching, and deeply human, Rise Ayanda will shake you-and it will not let you look away.
About the Author
Yusuf Omar has been writing for more than four decades across business, government, and community life, before turning to the stories closest to his heart. He is the author of Qwabe: A Life of Plenty and Rise Ayanda.
For years, writing was his duty. Now it is his choice, a way to tell the stories that matter and to drive positive change where he believes it is most needed.
Though his books are works of fiction, only the characters are imagined. The experiences, struggles, and triumphs they live through are drawn from the truths of our world.
