Portrait

Dr. Kailash C. Jena is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at IIT Ropar.  His research expertise is in the field of nonlinear sum-frequency generation (SFG) vibrational spectroscopy and its application to probe the molecular structure various biomolecules and their interactions with interfacial water molecules at air/water. His priorities are in the fields to study specific ion effects, protein-protein interaction, nano-bio mimicking systems, drug-polymer interaction, molecular structure of macromolecules at aqueous interfaces, laser induced microjet and droplet formation, self-assembly of molecules and Interferometry.

Dr. Asoka Biswas joined is currently an Associate Professor in Physics at IIT Ropar. She obtained her PhD from the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, in the area of quantum computation and information theory. She has been the recipient of the prestigious CQIQC post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Southern California, USA, and the Prize post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto, Canada, to work on different aspects of quantum control, Her current research interests include quantum thermodynamics, quantum synchronization, and quantum information theory.

Dr. Deepika Choudhury received her PhD degree in Experimental Nuclear Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. After her PhD, she worked at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, as Post-doctoral Visiting Scientist. Thereafter, she worked at Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics, Romania, as post-doctoral research assistant, followed by Research Scientist -III. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at IIT Ropar. Her current research focus is on Nuclear Structure; Nuclear Reaction; Nuclear Fission etc.

Dr. Rajesh K. Gupt a completed his PhD at Harish-Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad. After that, he held postdoctoral positions at Utrecht University and NIKHEF in the Netherlands, ICTP Trieste and King's College London before joining IIT Ropar as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics.  His research interests lie in the direction of quantum field theory, its application in condensed matter and statistical systems, and the quantum aspects of black hole physics.

Associate Professor Vishwa Pal is currently an Assistant Professor of Physics at IIT Ropar. He obtained his PhD in Physics from the School of Physical Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. He completed part of his PhD at the CNRS Laboratoire Aime Cotton, Orsay, France. His research interests include phase-locking of large arrays of lasers, quantum-inspired computing with lasers, laser beam shaping, topological photonics, and ultrafast multimode fiber lasers.

Dr. Vijay K. Singh obtained his Ph.D. from BHU, Varanasi, India. He then moved to JBNU, Jeonju, South Korea, for his Postdoctoral Research. Currently he is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at IIT Ropar. His expertise is in atomically controlled synthesis and applications of carbon and transition metal chalcogenides-based quantum materials (2D, 1D and 0D). He has developed high-speed 2D FET, 2D-0D heterostructure-based optoelectronic and biosensor. His current research efforts are in developing the quantum materials-based next-generation electronic, optical, and biosensing devices.
