  The Secret History

  This is truly iconic. The way Donna Tarrt describes and really makes the reader get to know the characters. How they are so deeply flawed and in spite of this or maybe because of it you love them so much. And she really makes you see how easy it is for you to do the same because you really start to feel like Bunny is starting to be annoying, starting to be a burden. And I love Francis. But oh the injustice that was done to Camilla cause no one was actually on her side. And I wonder if the course would have continued and Charles would have had the same fate as Bunny. And I need to know what Henry whispered to Camilla. And it‘s so palpable how Richard constantly feels like an outsider, like an imposter, eventhough he is very much a part of the group a part of it all.

  Angesiedelt in einer versteckten queeren Bar im San Francisco der 1950er Jahre, wird diese Coming-of-Age-Geschichte dein Herz herausreißen und wieder zusammennähen. Die Charaktere sind nuanciert und vielfältig, und der Leser kann die verschiedenen Figuren durch die wechselnden Perspektiven sehr gut kennenlernen. Da die Sprache nicht zu komplex ist, ist dies auch für jüngere Leser eine äußerst zugängliche Wahl.

This is a beautiful story about female desire, about falling in love with people, about the intimacies between different people, and at its core this is a book about yearning to be seen.   This is How You Lose the Time War

  This is a sapphic enemies-to-lovers science-fiction novel but it's also so much more than that. The writing style is immaculate allowing you to fall in love with the characters through the letters they write to each other. While the worldbuilding can be confusing at times it also adds to the whole vibe and you can really feel the moral dilemma the main characters are in. Truly one of a kind and so worth it!!
