The Ebb-Tide is a novel written by Robert Louis Stevenson, first published in 1894. The story is set in the South Pacific and follows the adventures of three men, Herrick, Davis, and Huish, who are stranded on a remote island. The men are all down on their luck and desperate for money, so they hatch a plan to steal a ship and escape to a new life. However, their plan goes awry when they discover that the ship they have stolen is carrying a cargo of champagne and a wealthy passenger, whom they decide to hold for ransom. As they sail towards their destination, the men's greed and mistrust of each other threaten to tear them apart. The Ebb-Tide is a gripping tale of adventure, betrayal, and redemption, and is considered one of Stevenson's most underrated works.Emma, I have scratched out the beginning to my father, for I think I can write more easily to you. This is my last farewell to all, the last you will ever hear or see of an unworthy friend and son. I have failed in life; I am quite broken down and disgraced. I pass under a false name; you will have to tell my father that with all your kindness. It is my own fault. -- with Fanny Van De Grift StevensonThis scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
