""The Heroes or Greek Fairy Tales for My Children"" is a collection of classic stories from Greek mythology, retold by Charles Kingsley. The book includes tales of famous heroes such as Perseus, Theseus, and Hercules, as well as lesser-known figures like Atalanta and Bellerophon. Each story is written in a simple and engaging style that is suitable for children, but also enjoyable for adults. The book also includes illustrations by well-known artists such as Arthur Rackham and Walter Crane. Overall, ""The Heroes"" is a timeless collection of myths that has been beloved by generations of readers.ONCE upon a time there were two princes who were twins. Their names were Acrisius and Proetus, and they lived in the pleasant vale of Argos, far away in Hellas. They had fruitful meadows and vineyards, sheep and oxen, great herds of horses feeding down in Lerna Fen, and all that men could need to make them blest: and yet they were wretched, because they were jealous of each other. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
