The Life of Johnson V5 is a biography of the renowned literary figure Samuel Johnson, written by George Birkbeck Hill. This fifth volume covers the later years of Johnson's life, from 1776 until his death in 1784. The book provides a detailed account of Johnson's personal and professional life during this period, including his continued work on his famous dictionary and his involvement in the literary and political circles of London. The biography also delves into Johnson's relationships with his friends and family, as well as his struggles with illness and depression. Hill's writing is thorough and insightful, drawing on a wealth of primary sources to paint a vivid portrait of one of the most important figures in English literature. The Life of Johnson V5 is a must-read for anyone interested in the life and work of Samuel Johnson, as well as for those interested in the literary and cultural history of 18th century England.INCLUDING BOSWELL'S JOURNAL OF A TOUR TO THE HEBRIDES AND JOHNSON'S DIARY OF A JOURNEY INTO NORTH WALES.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
