The Perfect Wagnerite: A Commentary on The Niblung's Ring is a book by George Bernard Shaw that offers a detailed analysis of Richard Wagner's four-part opera cycle, The Ring of the Nibelung. Shaw's commentary on the opera cycle is written in a conversational style and is meant to be accessible to a wide audience. The book provides historical context for the opera cycle and explains the themes and motifs that run throughout the work. Shaw also critiques Wagner's use of music and the opera's libretto. The Perfect Wagnerite was first published in 1898 and has since become a classic work of music criticism. The philosophically fertile element in the original project of Siegfried's Death was the conception of Siegfried himself as a type of the healthy man raised to perfect confidence in his own impulses by an intense and joyous vitality which is above fear, sickliness of conscience, malice, and the makeshifts and moral crutches of law and order which accompany them. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
