Beside the Bonnie Brier Bush is a collection of short stories and sketches written by Scottish author Ian Maclaren. The book is set in the fictional village of Drumtochty, located in the Scottish countryside, and explores the lives of the people who live there. The stories are centered around themes of love, faith, and community, and often feature characters who are struggling with personal challenges or facing difficult decisions. Maclaren's writing style is characterized by his use of Scottish dialect and his ability to capture the nuances of life in a small Scottish village. The book was first published in 1894 and quickly became a bestseller, both in Scotland and abroad. It has since become a classic of Scottish literature and is widely regarded as one of Maclaren's most important works.
