""Mr. Bonaparte of Corsica"" is a comedic novel written by John Kendrick Bangs. The story revolves around a man named Napoleon Bonaparte, who is reincarnated in the present day as a young lawyer named Mr. Bonaparte. Despite his new life, Mr. Bonaparte still harbors the same ambitions and desires as his previous incarnation, leading him to attempt to conquer the world once again. Along the way, he meets a cast of eccentric characters, including a wealthy socialite and a group of anarchists, who complicate his plans. Through a series of hilarious misadventures, Mr. Bonaparte learns valuable lessons about power, ambition, and the true meaning of success. This book is a witty and entertaining satire that pokes fun at the cult of personality and the desire for power that often drives individuals to great heights of success and failure.Whatever came of the duel we are not informed; but it is to be presumed that it did not result fatally for young Bonaparte, for he lived many years after the incident, as most of our readers are probably aware. Had he not done so, this biography would have had to stop here, and countless readers of our own day would have been deprived of much entertaining fiction. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
