The Plays of Gods and Men is a collection of plays written by Lord Dunsany, an Irish writer known for his fantasy and science fiction works. The book includes six plays, each with its own unique plot, characters, and setting. The first play, The Gods of the Mountain, is a fantasy about a group of peasants who seek the help of the gods to overthrow a tyrannical king. The second play, The Golden Doom, is a tragedy about a young man who must choose between love and duty. The third play, King Argimenes and the Unknown Warrior, is a historical drama set in ancient Greece, where a king must face the consequences of his actions. The fourth play, The Glittering Gate, is a comedy about a group of travelers who stumble upon a magical gate that leads to unexpected adventures. The fifth play, The Lost Silk Hat, is a mystery about a detective who must solve the disappearance of a valuable hat. The final play, A Night at an Inn, is a horror story about a group of travelers who spend the night at an inn with a dark secret. Overall, The Plays of Gods and Men is a diverse collection of plays that showcase Lord Dunsany's talent for storytelling and his ability to transport readers to different worlds and time periods.Ludibras: When he tarried year after year in monstrous Barbul-el-Sharnak, I feared that I would see the sun rise never more in the windy glorious country. I feared we should live always in Barbul-el-Sharnak and be buried among houses. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
