The Two Wives by T.S. Arthur is a novel that tells the story of two women, one virtuous and the other cunning, who are both married to the same man. The virtuous wife, Eliza, is kind, loving, and devoted to her husband and children. The cunning wife, Jane, is selfish, manipulative, and only interested in her own happiness. As the story unfolds, Eliza and Jane's contrasting personalities become more and more apparent, and their relationship becomes increasingly strained. Eliza's unwavering loyalty to her husband and her refusal to engage in any sort of deceit or manipulation puts her at odds with Jane, who is constantly scheming to get what she wants.Despite the challenges they face, Eliza and her husband remain committed to each other and their family. However, when a tragic event occurs, they are forced to confront the reality of their situation and make some difficult choices. The Two Wives is a thought-provoking and emotionally charged novel that explores themes of love, loyalty, and the consequences of our actions. It is a timeless tale that is sure to resonate with readers of all ages.""Ah, me!"" she sighed. ""It is hard to know how to get along with him. If every thing isn't just to suit his fancy, off he goes. I might humour him more than I do, but it isn't in me to humour any one. And for a man to want to be humoured! Oh, dear! oh, dear! this is a wretched way to live; it will kill me in the end. These men expect their own way in every thing, and if they don't get it, then there is trouble. I'm not fit to be Henry's wife. He ought to have married a woman with less independence of spirit; one who would have been the mere creature of his whims and fancies.""This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
