An Inland Voyage is a travelogue written by the celebrated Scottish author, Robert Louis Stevenson. The book chronicles Stevenson's journey through the canals and rivers of Belgium and France in a canoe with his friend and fellow writer, Sir Walter Grindlay Simpson. The journey takes place in the late 19th century and the book is a vivid and entertaining account of their experiences on the waterways, as well as their encounters with the people they meet along the way. Stevenson's writing is witty, insightful, and often poetic, capturing the beauty of the landscapes and the charm of the small towns and villages they pass through. The book also touches on themes of friendship, adventure, and the joys of travel. An Inland Voyage is a classic of travel literature and a must-read for anyone interested in the works of Robert Louis Stevenson or in the history and culture of Europe in the late 1800s.THE rain took off near Laeken. But the sun was already down; the air was chill; and we had scarcely a dry stitch between the pair of us. Nay, now we found ourselves near the end of the Allee Verte, and on the very threshold of Brussels, we were confronted by a serious difficulty. The shores were closely lined by canal boats. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
