The American Claimant is a novel written by the renowned American author, Mark Twain. It is a satirical work that tells the story of an American named Colonel Mulberry Sellers who believes he is the rightful heir to a British estate. The novel is set in England and follows the adventures of the Colonel as he tries to claim his inheritance and establish himself as a member of the British aristocracy. As the story unfolds, the Colonel encounters a variety of characters, including a young American woman named Laura Hawkins, who is also claiming the estate, and a British lord named Berkeley, who is skeptical of the Colonel's claim. The novel is filled with humor and irony as Twain pokes fun at the British aristocracy and the American obsession with wealth and social status. The American Claimant is considered one of Twain's lesser-known works, but it is still highly regarded for its wit and satire. The novel was first published in 1892 and has since been adapted into a play and a film. It is a must-read for anyone who enjoys Twain's unique brand of humor and social commentary. No weather will be found in this book. This is an attempt to pull a book through without weather. It being the first attempt of the kind in fictitious literature, it may prove a failure, but it seemed worth the while of some dare-devil person to try it, and the author was in just the mood. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
