""A History of Preaching: From the Apostolic Fathers to the Great Reformers A.D. 70-1572 V2"" is a comprehensive book that covers the history of preaching during the period of A.D. 70-1572. The author, Edwin Charles Dargan, explores the evolution of preaching from its early beginnings in the New Testament era to the Reformation period. The book is divided into two volumes, with the second volume covering the period from the 12th to the 16th century. The book delves into the lives and works of some of the most influential preachers of the time, including Augustine of Hippo, John Chrysostom, Martin Luther, and John Calvin. It also examines the development of preaching styles and techniques, from the early church's emphasis on allegory and symbolism to the Reformation's focus on biblical exegesis and direct application.Throughout the book, Dargan provides a detailed analysis of the social and historical contexts in which preaching evolved, including the rise of the medieval church, the Renaissance, and the Protestant Reformation. He also explores the impact of preaching on society and how it helped shape religious and political movements.Overall, ""A History of Preaching: From the Apostolic Fathers to the Great Reformers A.D. 70-1572 V2"" is an essential resource for anyone interested in the history of preaching and its role in shaping religious and cultural history. In Two Volumes.
