The Crack of Doom is a thrilling novel written by Robert Cromie. The book is set in the early 1900s and follows the story of a young and ambitious scientist named Professor Jackman. Jackman is obsessed with studying the properties of a rare mineral called ""radium"" and is convinced that it holds the key to unlocking the secrets of the universe. As Jackman's experiments with radium become more and more intense, he begins to notice strange and alarming phenomena occurring around him. The ground begins to shake, and a massive crack appears in the earth's surface. Jackman realizes that his experiments have triggered a catastrophic event that could potentially destroy the entire planet. As the crack widens and chaos ensues, Jackman races against time to find a way to stop the destruction before it's too late. Along the way, he must confront his own personal demons and grapple with the ethical implications of his scientific pursuits. The Crack of Doom is a fast-paced and gripping novel that explores the dangers of unchecked scientific ambition and the consequences of playing with forces beyond our control. It is a cautionary tale that remains relevant today, reminding us of the importance of responsible scientific research and the need to consider the long-term effects of our actions. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
