Westminster is a novel written by Walter Besant that takes place in the late 19th century in London, England. The story follows the life of young aristocrat Lady Mildred Eldridge, who is forced to marry a man she does not love in order to save her family's estate from financial ruin. The novel explores themes of love, class, and social expectations as Lady Mildred navigates her new life as the wife of a wealthy businessman. Along the way, she encounters a cast of characters from all walks of life, including politicians, artists, and socialites, and she must navigate the complex political and social landscape of Victorian London. The novel also offers a detailed portrait of the city of Westminster, with vivid descriptions of its streets, buildings, and landmarks. Overall, Westminster is a compelling historical novel that offers a glimpse into the lives of the British aristocracy and the society they inhabited during the late 19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
