Le Belle-Nivernaise: The Story Of A River Barge And Its Crew is a novel written by French author Alphonse Daudet, first published in 1898. The story is set in the late 19th century and revolves around the Belle-Nivernaise, a traditional river barge that travels along the canals and rivers of France. The crew of the barge consists of a captain, his wife, their young daughter, and a handful of other workers. The novel follows the daily lives of the crew as they navigate the waterways of France, encountering various challenges and adventures along the way. The Belle-Nivernaise is a symbol of a bygone era, and the novel explores the changing landscape of France as modernization and industrialization begin to take hold.Through the characters and their experiences, Daudet offers a glimpse into the lives of the working-class people of France during this time period. The novel also explores themes of love, family, loyalty, and the importance of tradition.Overall, Le Belle-Nivernaise: The Story Of A River Barge And Its Crew is a charming and poignant novel that captures the beauty and simplicity of life on the waterways of France during the late 19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
