The Way of Kings Part One The first book of the breathtaking epic Stormlight Archive from the worldwide fantasy sensation

Das Buch ist sehr gut aufgebaut und führt langsam in die Welt der Charaktere ein, ist dabei aber stets spannend.

(English) The Way of Kings is slow but, at the same time, shallow. The author focuses on the how and what but not so much on the why, especially the most important one, "Why I'm reading this". What's sad is that Brandon Sanderson is a good writer; you can tell by the introduction that he could grab your interest and describe a creative world. The books have good ideas, and the overall plot is interesting in concept. However, the book fails to justify its existence and convey the exciting aspects of its world, turning the otherwise interesting characters in unique journeys into uninspired characters in boring stories. (Deutsch) The Way of Kings ist langsam, aber gleichzeitig auch seicht. Der Autor konzentriert sich auf das "Wie" und "Was", aber nicht so sehr auf das "Warum", vor allem nicht auf das wichtigste: "Warum ich das lese". Schade ist, dass Brandon Sanderson ein guter Autor ist; man merkt schon im Prolog, dass er das Interesse wecken und eine kreative Welt beschreiben kann. Die Bücher haben gute Ideen, und die Gesamthandlung ist vom Konzept her interessant. Allerdings gelingt es dem Buch nicht, seine Existenz zu rechtfertigen und die spannenden Aspekte seiner Welt zu vermitteln, so dass die ansonsten interessanten Charaktere auf einzigartigen Reisen zu uninspirierten Figuren in langweiligen Geschichten werden.
