"Cinder" is the first book of "The Lunar Chronicles" and a great start to a series that will leave you asking for more. Cinder isn't your average kind of girl. As if being a teenage mechanic weren't enough to turn her into a social outcast, she also happens to be a cyborg - which doesn't help at all. Not being wanted by her stepmother and -sister Cinder doesn't exactly lead an easy life. When meeting the young prince of the Eastern Commonwealth things seem to look up for a while, but her joy is short-lived when she suddenly gets blamed for her sister's disease and subsequently is sold off as a guinea pig to a research center. But there she gets to know herself better than she ever dreamed of... Take a cyborg, some androids and extraterrestrials, add a horrendous disease and throw in a handsome prince for good measure and you'll get the captivating and unique story that is "Cinder". I very much enjoyed reading this new twist on the beloved tale "Cinderella" and am eager to dive into the second book in this series to see how things unfold. I highly recommend this book to teenagers aged 14.

Cinder ist die beste Mechanikerin in New Beijing...und sie ist ein Cyborg. Als sie mit ihrer Stiefschwester auf einem Schrottplatz nach Teilen sucht ahnt sie nicht in welche Schwierigkeiten sie das bringen wird. Denn im ganzen Land geht eine tödliche Krankheit umher und ausgerechnet ihre Stiefschwester erkrankt daran. Ihre Stiefmutter gibt ihr daran die Schuld und meldet sie als "Versuchkaninchen" im Labor des Königs an damit endlich ein Gegenmittel gefunden werden kann. Und als wäre das nicht genug, gibt es auch noch den gutaussehenden Kai, der zufällig der Prinz ist und dringend ihre Hilfe braucht! Ein super spannendes Buch für Jugendliche und auch auf englisch gut verständlich. Ich freue mich schon auf die Fortsetzung die wohl 2013 kommen soll! Ich bin begeistert! :D
