Every book that encourages its readers to think beyond the constraints of the world is worth reading. Even more so when it incorporates important themes that speak to people of all ages and backgrounds in a meaningful way. In the real world, the Pevensies may grow up and, in time, forget the wondrous realm of Narnia and its inhabitants. The reader, however, will always have a way to go back and roam the halls of Cair Paravel or explore Beaver's Dam. Such is the power of the written word. A power C.S. Lewis also recognized, and so he decided to write a story about the disparity between good and evil, betrayal and loyalty, as well as magic and reality. A story that transposes you from one plane of existence to another and makes you wish that you too had an ancient closet that lets you enjoy life alongside Aslan, Mr. Beaver, and Reepicheep.
