Through the Woods

My recommendations for reading this graphic ‘novel’: 1. Don’t binge it. Treat yourself to a chapter/story every once in a while. 2. Read the respective chapter at night, preferably in bed. Don’t cheat, only read one! 3. Appreciate it: Carefully admire at Emily Carroll’s hauntingly beautiful (and at times creepy!) artwork, and savour the slowly approaching and haunting feeling of dread during your reading. 4. Close the book after the chapter, and try to fall asleep after having your bones rattled by one of these five nightmarish stories, presented in predominantly red and blue hues and stark black and white contrasts. My personal favourite story is the first one, ‘Our Neighbor’s House’, which truly sent a shiver down my spine after reading it. Have a bootiful read and best witches!

A stunning graphic noel about dark fairy tales. Emily Carroll's writing is simplistic but sincerely and who even Needs words when it's her illustrations that take your breath away. The whole book ist just capivating from the first to the last page!
