In the midst of all the commentary throughout the world on the nature of God, is it possible that we have lost sight of the message of the cross? Too often, we become so consumed by rules and ritual that we forget that the primary message of Jesus is found through love displayed on a cross. In his collection of 17 Cycle C sermons on the gospel readings for the seasons of Lent and Easter, R. Robert Cueni brilliantly draws from over four decades of pastoral experience, blending a deep knowledge of historical events with beautifully written text as he invites the reader to consider how to live out a life of genuine faith. As Cueni reminds us of our human frailty, he quickly points us back to the message of Easter, a story where redemption is poured out even in spite of our imperfect natures. Cueni beckons the reader to draw near, to be still and know God, and to enter into a relationship that abandons judgment and embraces love. An excellent sermon resource, Can I Get Some Help Over Here? can also be used for group or individual study. Sermon Titles include: • From Deep Unto Deep(Luke 22:14--23:56) • What To Give Up For Lent (Luke 4:1-13) • It Is Always The Third Day (Luke 13:31-35) R. Robert Cueni is a retired Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) pastor. He holds degrees from Bethany College, Bethany Virginia (2001); San Francisco Theological Seminary, San Francisco, California (1979); Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis, Indiana (1971); and Kent State University, Kent, Ohio (1964). He has written numerous CSS titles and currently resides in Lexington, Kentucky, with his wife. They have two daughters and four grandchildren.
