Reach inside and choose your challenge, Find the path that you must travel.
What trials have you to overcome? What mysteries shall you unravel? Inside Crones' Circle, a painted wooden box decorated with Celtic knotwork holds the private test each student must undertake before initiation.
Of her circle, Kate has always struggled the most in learning the ways of the Craft. As her Wiccan initiation approaches, a final challenge threatens to overcome her at last. Drawing a slip that commands her to answer the question that has no answer, she fears that second-guessing herself will leave her behind while Annie and Cooper move forward. Stranded in Beecher Falls with a ruined science grade and an overdue talk with her parish priest, she must decide what she truly believes before the year and a day run out.
- Sibling Dynamics: Annie travels to New Orleans to meet her long-lost sister Juliet, sharing family photographs while wrestling with whether to reveal the secret spiritual life that defines her.
- Identity and Self-Discovery: Drafted into a play at the last minute, Cooper takes the stage in a peacock mask and discovers how to face her deepest creative fears under the theater lights.
- Quest Adventure: A chase through the streets of Mardi Gras leads Annie to a hidden courtyard bonfire, where Creole celebrants gather to seek guidance and leave offerings for Marie Laveau.
- Found Family: Before the final decisions are announced, the three dedicants don their old satin robes to cast an elemental spiral circle and swear a lifelong pact of loyalty.
