The End?

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

As "Chapterhouse" is the last Dune instalment which Frank Herbert wrote on his own before his death in 1986, it is almost an honour to accompany him on his last philosophical adventure. After the explosive ending of "Heretics of Dune", I was more than eager to find out how the story continues and am truly amazed how Herbert manages to surprise the reader time and time again with unforseeable plot and character developments. To be able to hold such an immense scope of narrative balanced and in check speaks for itself with regard to Herbert's extraordinary imaginative talent. At the end of the book, I came across the worst cliffhanger there is in my whole reading career and am very dismayed that Frank Herbert has not been granted enough time to write the series' finale himself. If you want to find out how he planned the story to end, you might want to read the split finale "Hunters of Dune" and "Sandworms of Dune" written by his son Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, which are at least based on notes of Frank's personally. I know I will!!
