Step into the heart of Central Europe, where borders shift and stories endure. Europe feels close and vivid. In Volume VII of Eva March Tappan's beloved series, a childrens history anthology becomes a story song art collection, blending narrative retellings, traditional verses, and art-inspired glimpses into the past. Travel through landscapes of the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland, meeting german legends and myths beside dutch folklore and history, and the spirit found in swiss heroes and tales. It reads like an illustrated literature reader made for curious minds. Each selection stands alone, inviting dipping in and reading aloud, from castle keeps to canals and alpine passes. Compiled in an era when schools taught history through literature, The World's Story helped generations connect geography with character and tradition. As a classroom geography reader or for homeschool world history, it offers classic european folk tales and historical sketches that illuminate central european culture, with echoes of Brothers Grimm fairy tales and kindred storytelling. Tappan's editorial touch is light yet purposeful, choosing pieces that honour local voice and national memory without losing a child's sense of wonder and rhythm, across centuries and frontiers. For casual reading, it is rich in atmosphere; for classic-literature collectors, it is a distinctive window on how children first met Europe in print, in any setting. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike.
