The Girl and the Dinosaur

The Girl and the Dinosaur has become one of those books we return to again and again with our little boy – and I especially adore Sarah Massini’s beautiful illustrations. The story has that very special kind of picture-book magic: a little longing, an enormous amount of imagination and the wonderful idea that a heartfelt wish might somehow become real. But for me, it is the artwork that turns the story into an entire world. Sarah Massini’s illustrations are so atmospheric, dreamlike and full of tiny details that even after many readings, there is still something to discover and somewhere to linger. They somehow manage to feel wonderfully magical and incredibly tender at the same time. It is one of those rare children’s books where the grown-up is just as happy as the child when it is chosen from the bookshelf again. A true favourite in our family. ❤️
