Parade's End (Full Tetralogy Some Do Not, No More Parades , A Man Could Stand Up, and Last Post)

This is supposed to be Ford Madox Ford's great tetralogy about the First World War and its consequences! I was unfortunately quite dissapointed as the main focus of this (too long) book was the relationship drama between Christopher Tietjens, his wife Sylvia, and his love interest Valentine Wannop. There were a lot of interesting topics and implications like shell-shock, the suffragette movement, roles within marriage etc. but I felt that they fell short due to all the drama and intrigues. Also, this book has no reason to be almost 800 pages long!!
