Ticino Spectacular swimming spots on waterfalls, rivers and lakes

Wow! This book is amazing - the photos alone will inspire you to visit Ticino in Switzerland. Fantastically researched book, highlighting many of the wild swimming spots in 12 separate areas of the canton. The book is laid out in a friendly and logical way with easy to follow directions, and key information like water temperature, spots to relax and sunlight hours. I particularly like the section at the front with the author's top swimming spots. I just need more time to go back and visit them all!

I am fairly new to open water swimming but I love the idea of discovering new places to swim. Living in Canton Zürich, Ticino is not a canton I know very well and the author has research 120 spots to swim in. The book is a lovely compact book. It is nicely laid out and the photos and maps are brilliant. There was a QR code for the parking places, which was very helpful. As we got near to the parking place, we could scan the code and it opened up the map on my phone. We were then able to see exactly where to go. The Canton has been broken down into 12 sections and each swim spot has been numbered and photographed. For me it meant that I was able to look at an area I wanted to go to and then look at the photo to see what the swim spot will look like. There is plenty of advice about the safest way to go about wild swimming. Some spots are more remote than others. There are suggestions about hiking or cycling to swim spots and where to catch public transport too.

We got the book for our trip to Lugano in July. Unfortunately, the rainy weather prevented us from visiting any of the swimming sports. However, we found the book very well organized and found several swimming spots within biking distance from our hotel. We are planning to use the book for future trips to Ticino and have already recommended it to friends. The book suggests plenty of swimming spots in every region in Ticino and there is no ahead-of-time planning necessary, which is a big plus for us.
